Retaliation from Canada to the USA
Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Freeland stated that after the US decision to impose a 10 percent tariff on aluminum imported from Canada, a new tariff will be applied to American aluminum products worth $ 2.7 billion.
Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland stated at the press conference that the US decision to impose a 10 percent customs duty on aluminum imported from Canada would be responded: “quickly and strongly”.
Indicating that Canada will impose a new customs duty on American products worth $ 2.7 billion, Freeland said that the retaliatory customs duties will come into effect until September 16.
Stressing that the US decision was “unacceptable,” Freeland said, “In this time we are dealing with the COVID-19 epidemic, a trade dispute is the last thing needed. It will only hurt the economic recovery of the two sides. But this is what the US administration chooses to do.”
US President Donald Trump signed a decree yesterday to impose a 10 percent tariff on aluminum imported from Canada.
